Symptoms

You use the Web Server Certificate Wizard in Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 to create a Web server certificate on a computer that is running the Korean version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1). When you do this, the country abbreviation for Serbia and Montenegro appears in Korean.

If you click to select this country, the Web server certificate is not created as you expected.

This behavior occurs because the country abbreviation is incorrectly localized in the Korean version of Windows Server 2003.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. On a computer that has the Korean version of Windows Server 2003 with SP1 installed, click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
  2. Expand the computer name, and then expand Web Sites.
  3. Right-click Default Web Site, and then click Properties.
  4. On the Directory Security tab, click Server Certificate.
  5. On the Welcome to the Web Server Certificate Wizard page, click Next.
  6. Click Create a new certificate, and then click Next.
  7. Click Prepare the request now, but send it later, and then click Next.
  8. In the Name box, type a name for the certificate, and then click Next.
  9. In the Organization box, type the name of your organization. In the Organizational unit box, type the name of your organizational unit, and then click Next.
  10. In the Common name box, type the name of your site, and then click Next.
  11. In the Country/Region box, note that the abbreviation for Serbia and Montenegro appears in Korean.
