More information

Exchange 2000 Server retains read and unread properties for e-mail messages that are located in public folders on a per-user basis. This feature enables individual users to view their unread e-mail message count for each mail folder that is in their Outlook client. The unread e-mail message count appears in parentheses adjacent to each public folder. However, the unread e-mail message count does not appear as expected for public folders that are added to the Favorite Folders pane of a user.
