Symptoms

When you try to convert a Microsoft Access 2000 or a later version database to a Microsoft Access 97 database, you may receive the following error message:
Invalid field data type

Cause

This problem may occur if your database contains the Number data type. Then, the Number data type must have the Field Size property set to Decimal.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, change the Field Size property for the Number data type from Decimal to Double.
