Symptoms

When many users access their Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server mailboxes by using Microsoft Outlook Mobile Access, any one of the following symptoms may occur:
Users may not be able to access their Exchange 2000 Server mailboxes.
You may receive an access violation (c0000005) error message in the Exoledb.dll file on the Exchange 2000 Server back-end computer.
The Exchange 2000 Server back-end computer may restart.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.

Because of file dependencies, this hotfix requires Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 3 and the following Exchange 2000 Server post-Service Pack 3 update:

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart your computer after you install this hotfix. However, you must restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service after you install this hotfix.
