BUG: You may receive an error message, or the program may stop responding when you open a file in InfoPath 2007 or in InfoPath 2003

Symptoms

When you try to open a file in Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 or in Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003, InfoPath may stop responding (hang).

When you try to open a file in InfoPath 2003 Service Pack 1, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:
InfoPath cannot create a new blank form.
InfoPath cannot open the form. To fix this problem, contact your system administrator.
When you click Show Details, you receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:
Form template: <filepath>
InfoPath cannot open the following view: View 1
The XSL transform for the View XSL failed.

The XSL processor stack has overflowed - probable cause is infinite template recursion.
Note The <filepath> placeholder is the folder location of the file that you want to open.

Cause

This problem may occur if you manually edit the XSL transform for a view in an InfoPath form template, and then you accidentally introduce an infinite-recursive loop in the XSL template. You cannot implement infinite recursion in the InfoPath user interface.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, edit the InfoPath file, and then remove the code that implements infinite recursion.
