FIX: You receive an "unexpected data length" error message when you try a join in the Host Integration Server 2000 OLE DB Provider for D2

Symptoms

When you use the Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 OLE DB Provider for DB2 with multiple code pages, you may receive an error message when you try a join. For example, you may use the following query:
SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY (SAMPLE,'SELECT IPROD,IDESC,APROD,AFMT FROM AAAAA.BBB, DESC.CCCC 
WHERE IPROD = APROD')
When you do this, you receive the following error message:
Server: Msg 7347, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 OLE DB provider 'DB2OLEDB' returned an unexpected data length for the fixed-length column '[DB2OLEDB].IDESC'.
The expected data length is 50, while the returned data length is 0.
OLE DB error trace [Non-interface error: Unexpected data length returned for the column: ProviderName='DB2OLEDB', TableName='[DB2OLEDB]', ColumnName='IDESC', ExpectedLength='50', ReturnedLength='0'].

Service pack information

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 2.
