Cause

This problem may occur when both of the following conditions are true:
  • Multiple mailbox stores are configured on your Exchange 2000 server.
  • The mailbox stores mount and then try to register with the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service at the same time.
When you restart the Exchange 2000 server, the first mailbox store registers with the RPC service successfully. Subsequent mailbox stores try to register with the RPC service but cannot because the first mailbox store has already registered.

More information

Although event ID 1194 is logged to the application event log, you can ignore this message. A single mailbox store registration is all that you have to have for subsequent mailbox stores to mount. Although this process may log an error message in the application event log, all mailbox stores mount successfully.
