FIX: Sessions are not correctly balanced and BINDs are rejected when multiple local APPC LUs are in pool with a CPIC application to multiple CICS regions

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

In an environment where a CPIC application uses a pool of multiple local APPC LUs, each local APPC LU connects to the same remote LU by using different aliases and connections, and each local APPC LU connects to multiple CICS regions, you experience the following two problems after the mainframe is reset:
  • The sessions are not correctly balanced between the connections.
  • BINDs are rejected from the mainframe.

Cause

This problem occurs because Microsoft Host Integration Server sets up dynamic connections between the local LUs and the other remote LUs. The algorithm that processes Allocate calls (from the Common Programming Interface for Communications (CPI-C) cmallc function) with blank local LU names incorrectly decides to create these dynamic connections when they are not required. The connections are not required because each remote LU alias is already attached to a local LU.
