Resolution

To resolve this issue, change the service account on the existing ADC service to an account that is in the same domain where the ADC resides, and then upgrade the Exchange 2000 ADC to an Exchange 2003 ADC. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Create or use an account in the Windows domain of the ADC server. This account must be a member of the Exchange Services Group and of the built-in Domain Administrators Group in the Windows domain of your ADC server.
  2. Wait at least an hour for Active Directory to replicate these changes in the domain.
  3. On your ADC server, click Start, click Run, type Services.msc, and then click OK.
  4. Double-click the Microsoft Active Directory Connector Service.
  5. Click the Logon tab.
  6. Change This account to be the account that you created or selected in step 1.
  7. In the Password box and in the Confirm Password box, type the password for this account.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Right-click the Microsoft Active Directory Connector Service, and then click Restart.
  10. Upgrade the Exchange 2000 Server ADC to an Exchange Server 2003 ADC.
