XL: Color Text in Excel Previews and Prints as Black Text

Symptoms

When you print a Microsoft Excel workbook to a black and white printer, any colored text prints as black text instead of gray scaled text.

Note You can also see this behavior when you click Print Preview on the File menu.

Cause

This behavior may occur when you print to a low- or medium-resolution black and white printer.

To work around this behavior, print to a color printer.
