FIX: Shared folders that are shared off a permanent drive are not restored after you upgrade the operating system

After you upgrade your operating system from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 to Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, shared folders that were set up on a permanent Shared Folder Gateway drive may not be reshared.

This problem occurs because of a timing issue in how later operating systems try to load shares. In this case, the file system is brought up before the Shared Folder Gateway. This causes the subfolders of the permanent drives not to be recreated.

This hotfix modifies the Shared Folder Gateway to re-create the shares at startup.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 and Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 SP1. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2000 Service Pack 2.
