"Unable to read file" error message when you open a workbook and try to update links in Excel 2002

When you open a workbook in Microsoft Excel 2002 that contains links to other Excel workbooks, you may receive the following error message when you click Update to update the links in the workbook:After you save the file as an HTML file and reload it into Excel, the error message no longer appears, but the links do not update.
