Layers appear right-aligned in Expression Web, in SharePoint Designer 2007 or in FrontPage

Symptoms

When you apply the right-to-left attribute to page text in Microsoft Expression Web, in Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007, in Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, or in Microsoft FrontPage 2002, and then you preview the page, page layers may appear right-aligned.

Cause

This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • The layer has never been moved or resized; therefore, the x and y position attributes are not yet inserted.
  • The right-to-left attribute is applied to text on the page.
  • The text on the page is located directly under the first line of text in the layer.

Workaround

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
  • Move the layer.
  • Resize the layer.
Both of these actions insert the x and y position attributes.
