More information

To connect SharePoint Team Services to Microsoft Project Server, follow these steps:
  1. Install Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 and the Indexing Service

You must install IIS 6.0 and the Indexing Service on the computer before you install SharePoint Team Services. By default, IIS 6.0 is not installed with Windows Server 2003. To install IIS 6.0 and the Indexing Service, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
    2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
    3. Click Application Server, and then click Details.
    4. Click to select the Internet Information Services (IIS) check box, and then click OK.
    5. Click to select the Indexing Service check box, and then click Next.
    6. Click Finish.
  2. Configure the settings for IIS 6.0

    1. Configure IIS 6.0 to Use IIS 5.0 Isolation Mode

SharePoint Team Services was developed to take advantage of functionality inherent in IIS version 5.0. When you activate Isolation Mode in IIS 6.0, SharePoint Team Services can use the IIS 5.0 sessions and components in IIS 6.0. To configure IIS 6.0 to use IIS 5.0 isolation mode, follow these steps:
      1. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services Manager.
      2. Expand ServerName, where ServerName is the name of the server.
      3. Right-click Web Sites, and then click Properties.
      4. Click the Service tab.
      5. Under Isolation mode, click to select the Run WWW Service in IIS 5.0 isolation mode check box, and then click OK.
      6. Close Internet Information Services Manager.
    2. Activate the Indexing Service Web Extension

You must activate the Indexing Service Web extension in IIS 6.0 before you can use the Indexing Service. After you activate the Web Extension, you can configure indexing for Web content so that users can perform searches on that content. To enable the Indexing Service Web extension, follow these steps:
      1. Click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information Services Manager.
      2. Expand ServerName, where ServerName is the name of the server, and then click Web Service Extensions.
      3. In the right pane of the IIS Manager, right-click Indexing Service, and then click Allow.
      4. Quit the Internet Information Services Manager.
    3. Add the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the Server to the Local Intranet Zone in Internet Explorer

By default, the Microsoft Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration feature is enabled in Internet Explorer in Windows Server 2003. The Internet zone is set to use "High" security and the Trusted zone is set to use "Medium" security.

After SharePoint Team Services is installed on the computer, you must add the URL of the server to the Local Intranet Zone to access the SharePoint Team Services administration pages and the SharePoint Team Services home page. To add the server's URL to the Local Intranet Zone, follow these steps:
      1. Start Internet Explorer.
      2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
      3. Click the Security tab.
      4. Click Local intranet, click Sites, and then click Advanced.
      5. In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type the URL of the server (for example, type http://ServerName, where ServerName is the name of your server), and then click OK.
      6. Click OK, and then click OK.
  3. Install SharePoint Team Services

Install SharePoint Team Services on your computer. To install SharePoint Team Services, follow these steps:
    1. Insert your Microsoft Project Server CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of the server computer.
    2. Right-click My Computer on the desktop, and then click Explore.
    3. Click the CD-ROM drive that contains the Microsoft Project Server CD-ROM.
    4. Locate the CD-ROM Drive:\Prjsvr\Sharept folder on the CD-ROM.
    5. Click Start, click Run, and then press and drag SetupSe.exe to the Open line in the Run dialog box. The run line will point to SetupSe.exe on your CD-ROM drive, for example, D:\Prjsvr\Sharept\SetupSe.exe.
    6. Add the /nd parameter to the end of the Run command line. For example, the Run line may look similar to the following:

      CD-ROM Drive:\Prjsvr\Sharept\SetupSe.exe /nd

Note The /nd parameter will prevent the installation of the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) if there is no database detected. This is intended and makes it possible for you to connect to a specific database server.
    7. Click OK to continue with the installation.
    8. Click Yes when you receive following message:
      Microsoft SharePoint Setup

You will have to provide the name of an existing database server running Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 or greater. Do you want to continue?
    9. Type your user information and the product key.

Note The product key is located on the back of the Microsoft Project Server CD-ROM case.
    10. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the SharePoint Team Services installation.
    11. After the installation is complete, continue to the next section to extend your SharePoint Team Services site.

    1. In the Virtual Servers section of the Microsoft SharePoint Administration page, find your Web site, and then click the Extend link. The Extend Virtual Server with Microsoft SharePoint Web page will open.
    2. Type the Administrator account and Database information. For Site Type, click to activate SharePoint-based Web Site, and then click Submit.
    3. After the site has been processed, you will return to the Server Administration page.
    4. In the Virtual Servers section, note the URL address.
    5. Open a new instance of Internet Explorer, and the use the URL in step d to locate your default SharePoint Team Services site.
    6. Quit Internet Explorer.
  5. Run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard

The SharePoint Configuration Wizard (Stswiz.exe) must be run to install the add-on components, such as template files and the Public Document subweb, for use with documents and issues in Microsoft Project Web Access. To run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, and then click Browse.
    2. Double-click your CD-ROM drive.
    3. Locate the file Setup.exe, click Open, and then click OK to run setup.
    4. On the Microsoft Project Server 2002 splash screen, click SharePoint Configuration Wizard.
    5. Click Continue when you receive the following message:
      Microsoft Project Server 2002

The SharePoint Team Services 1.0 Configuration Wizard does not automatically install SharePoint Team Services 1.0 on this version of Windows. You have to manually set up SharePoint Team Services 1.0 on this server, and then rerun the wizard to configure the installation to work with Microsoft Project Server 2002.
    6. You will receive a message that recommends that you install the latest Microsoft Office XP Service Pack.
      1. If you click OK, the installation will stop to allow you to install the latest Office XP service pack. To obtain the latest service pack for Office XP, visit the following the Microsoft Office Update Web site:
      2. If you click Cancel, the installation will continue. You must then install the latest Office XP Service Pack after the installation is complete.

Note Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) is not currently compatible with SharePoint Team Services when you install Office XP SP3 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003. If you want to run SharePoint Team Services on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, do not install Office XP SP3 at this time
    7. Click to select Provision additional SharePoint Web site for Project Server, and then click Next.
    8. Click to select your Web site (for example, click Default Web Site), and then click Next to start the installation.
After the installation is complete, you will receive a confirmation screen with the following information:
    • Your server name
    • The Web server port
    • The SharePoint administration port
    • The database server name
    • The database name
Make note of this information. You will require this information to complete step 7 in this article.
