The Exchange Information Store Service (Store.exe) Stops Responding in Exmime.dll

Symptoms

When the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service (Store.exe) processes messages with recipient display names that use Unicode Translation Format-8 (UTF-8)-encoded double-byte character set (DBCS) characters, the service may unexpectedly stop responding (crash) in Exmime.dll.

Cause

This problem may occur in situations where one or more recipient names in the To: line or the Cc: line of a message contains UTF-8-encoded DBCS characters, and Exchange 2000 incorrectly processes the UTF-8-encoded DBCS characters in the recipient name.
