FIX: BizTalk Server Does Not Preserve White Space in XML Documents

Symptoms

After you pass an XML document through BizTalk Server, white space in the document may not be preserved. Where you previously saw a space, represented by hexadecimal 0x20, you may now see the following sequence of characters: 0D0A09. These characters are carriage return, line feed, and tab.

Hot Fix Information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002 Service Pack 1.
