To resolve this issue, use one or more of the following methods, as
appropriate for your situation.
Note If your Portfolio Analyzer View tries to connect to an OLAP Cube
that no longer exists, you must delete that particular Portfolio Analyzer View,
and then re-create it.
Method 1: Add the Windows User Account to the cube in Analysis Manager
Note The Windows User Account contains individuals who create the
Portfolio Analyzer View, but who need permissions to connect to the Analysis
Manager and to the OLAP cube.
- On the server that has Analysis Services installed, click
Start, point to Microsoft SQL Server, point
to Analysis Services, and then click Analysis
Management.
- In the left pane, locate your Analysis Services server, and
then expand the server.
- Right-click the cube, and then click Manage
Roles.
Tip You can find the name of the cube on the Updates to Resource
Tables and OLAP Cube page in Microsoft Project Web Access. - Click New, and then type a name in the
Role name box. Change the Enforce on option
from Client to Server.
- On the Membership tab, click
Add.
- Select user accounts and groups, click
Add, and then click OK.
- On the Cubes tab, click Check
All, and then click OK.
- Click Close, and then click
Exit on the Console menu.
Method 2: Install Service Pack 3 for SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services
To work around this issue, install SQL Analysis Service Pack 3 (SP3). If
you have Project Server on a distributed configuration, where Project Server
and SQL Analysis Services are on different computers, you must apply SP3 to
update your Decision Support Object for SQL Analysis on your Project Server
computer. To do this, follow these steps:
- Download SQL Server 2000 SP3 and SQL Analysis SP3. To do
this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
- Download the Sql2kasp3.exe and Sql2ksp3.exe
files.
- Double-click the Sql2ksp3.exe file, and then follow the
instructions on the screen.
- In the Installation Folder dialog box,
accept the c:\Sql2ksp3 folder, and then click Finish.
- Click Yes to create the new folder.
- Open the c:\Sql2ksp3 folder.
- Double-click the MSOLAP and
Install folder to install SP3 for SQL Analysis Services, and
then double-click Setup.exe to install SQL Analysis SP3.
- Open the c:\Sql2ksp3\X86\Setup folder, and then
double-click Setupsql.exe to install SQL Server 2000 SP3.
Note To determine whether SQL Server SP3 and SQL Analysis SP3 are installed, click
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft SQL Server 2000
Analysis Services in the
Add or Remove Programs tool, and then click
Support Information. The matching versions are 8.00.760.
Note If you are running SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, make sure that Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed.
Method 3: Reinstall Office Web Components
Project Server 2002
Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- In Windows Explorer, locate the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Components\10
- Right-click OWC10.DLL, and then click
Rename.
- Type OWC10.OLD.
- Insert your Office XP CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM or
DVD-ROM drive while you hold down the SHIFT key.
- On the desktop, double-click My
Computer.
- Right-click the CD-ROM, and then click
Search.
- In the File name box, type
OWC10.msi, and then click Search
Now.
- Double-click the file in Search Results,
and then follow the instructions to install Office Web Components.
Note The OWC .msi file is also located on the Project Server. On the
server, you can file the .msi file that is located in the Program
Files\Microsoft Project Server\IIS Virtual Root\Download\1033 folder.
Project Server 2003
Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- In Windows Explorer, locate the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Components\11
- Right-click OWC11.DLL, and then click
Rename.
- Type OWC11.OLD.
- Insert your Microsoft Office Project Professional 2003
CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive while you hold down the
SHIFT key.
- On the desktop, double-click My
Computer.
- Right-click the CD-ROM, and then click
Search.
- In the File name box, type
OWC11.msi, and then click Search
Now.
- Double-click the file in Search Results,
and then follow the instructions to install Office Web Components.
Method 4: Add a group that has Full Control permissions to the OLAP cube
Add an Olap_Admins group that has Full Control permissions to the
Drive:\Program files\Microsoft Analysis Services\Bin
folder. On the actual cube that is generated, add the Everyone group, and then
give this group Read access.
Method 5: Enable the "Access data sources across domains" option for the security zone to which the Project server belongs
- Click Start, click Run,
type inetcpl.cpl, and
then press ENTER.
- Click the Security tab, and then
click the security zone to which the Project sever belongs.
- Click Custom Level to open the Security
Settings dialog box.
- In the Settings list, click Enable for the
Access data sources across domains option.
Note In Internet Explorer 7, the default security settings for trusted sites was changed. The
Access data sources across domains option was disabled. Use Method 5 to set this option to enable trusted sites or to prompt for trusted sites in Internet Explorer 7.
If you used SQL Server 2005 to build the cube, install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider on the Project Server box.
Note Project Server 2002 is incompatible with SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services.
