FP2002: "Error 2744. An Internal Error Has Occurred." Error Message When You Try to Install FrontPage

When you try to install FrontPage, you may receive the following error message:

This problem may occur if the installation of the Microsoft System Files Update is damaged.

To resolve this problem, follow these steps in the order in which they are presented.

Part 1: Clear the Contents of the Temp Folder

1. On the desktop, double-click My Computer.
2. Right-click your system drive, and then click Properties. By default, the system drive is C.
3. On the General tab, click Disk Cleanup.
4. Click to select the Temporary files check box, click OK, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion.

Part 2: Install the OLE Automation Update

1. Insert the Microsoft Office XP CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Hold down the SHIFT key to prevent the program from starting automatically.
2. Start Windows Explorer, and locate and then open the following folder, where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive that contains the Office XP CD:
   drive:\Files\Osp\1033\IE5\En
3. Double-click the Oainst.exe file.
   
   Oainst.exe installs the OLE automation update.

Part 3: Install FrontPage and Reinstall the System Files Update

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK, where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive that contains the Office XP CD:
   drive\Setup.exe /spforce
3. On the Maintenance Mode Options page of the System Files Update Maintenance Mode Wizard, click Repair System Files Update - Restore your System Files Update installation to its original state, and then click Next.
4. Click Reinstall System Files Update, and then click Install.
5. On the Maintenance Mode Options page of the Microsoft Office XP Setup Wizard, click the option that is appropriate for your situation, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install FrontPage.
