Symptoms

You may receive an application error message with the following attributes:
Event: Application Failure
Application: excel.exe

Cause

When Excel tries to parse certain data in memory, it does not clear the memory location, and Excel stops responding.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office XP. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
