Write scope in EAC on a role group reverts to default scope in Exchange Server 2013

Symptoms

Assume that you create or edit a new role group in Admin Roles by using Exchange Admin Center (EAC) in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 environment. When you set the Write Scope to a DatabaseScope type, the role group still shows the Write Scope setting as Default.

Cause

The issue occurs because the Exchange server unexpectedly ignores the DatabaseScope type when you set the write scope in EAC.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install Cumulative Update 13 for Exchange Server 2013 or a later cumulative update for Exchange Server 2013.
