Custom SAP ODI URI is removed by ActiveSync from an email in Exchange Server

Symptoms

In an Exchange Server environment, you use a device to compose an email message that contains a custom SAP OpenDocument-Text (ODI) Uniform Resource Identifier (URI). In this situation, the custom SAP ODT URI is not recognized by Exchange ActiveSync, and the URI is removed from the message before it is sent.

Cause

This issue occurs when the custom URI is coded as "Type Unknown" and is therefore removed by code call functions.

To fix this issue, install one of the following, as appropriate for your installation of Exchange Server:
