TPM 2.0 device may be missing on Windows

Symptoms

Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 hardware may not get detected on Windows installations. The TPM 2.0 device may be listed in Device Manager. You may also see an Event Log entry with the following message:

Cause

This issue can occur if the TPM 2.0 hardware uses a revision number of 4 of the ACPI table for TPM 2.0 as specified by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Specification.
