Symptoms

When you drag an item in the PivotTable and PivotChart Wizard - Layout dialog box, Microsoft Excel stops responding.

Cause

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You create a PivotTable that is based on Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) source data.
  • The number of items that appear in the PivotTable exceeds the sum of measures and dimensions of the cube that the PivotTable refers to.
  • You drag an item to the Data field in the PivotTable and PivotChart Wizard - Layout dialog box.

Resolution

Excel 2000

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.
