2015 - Morocco Ramadan DST changes – end date hotfix

View products that this article applies to.

This article describes a hotfix that temporarily suspends daylight saving time (DST) for the observation of Ramadan in Morocco in 2015. This is one of two hotfixes that you must install to make this transition. Before you install this hotfix, check the Prerequisites section.

Summary

As it did in 2014, Morocco is temporarily transitioning out of DST for the observation of Ramadan in 2015.

To do this, the DST period is suspended during the Muslim month of Ramadan (03:00 on Sunday, June 14, 2015 to 02:00 on Sunday July 19, 2015, in the Gregorian calendar).

During this period, clocks will be turned back to Standard Time. This suspension of the DST schedule is designed to shorten evenings, making it easier for Muslims to observe the Ramadan fast during hours of daylight. DST will resume at the end of the Ramadan observation on July 19, 2015.

We are releasing two hotfixes to automatically make these changes to the operating system for 2015.

Note Time zone history does not account for the Ramadan period that is set by these hotfix solutions.

More Information

To suspend the Windows DST adjustment for Morocco for 2015 install hotfix 3062740 now. That hotfix will revert the system clock to Standard Time.

To restore the DST adjustment on all systems, install hotfix 3062741 before June 28, 2015.

Note The announced time zone changes apply only to the 2015 calendar year. To return the system to the default DST settings for Morocco in 2016, you must install the December 2015 cumulative time zone update for Windows when that cumulative update is available.
