You receive System Message 6201 when the output for a step in an order type is set to a shared printer

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Order Management in Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • In Order Types (40.200.00) you click Output Selection on a step that is printing, such as the Print Invoice step.
  • For the output, you enter the UNC path for a shared printer.

When the printer initializes, it might be have a different case than what was entered in the Order Types step.  When this occurs, you receive an error.

System Message 6201

Report Execution Failed. error = 56029

Error Printing Report

The printer specified cannot be found. It may not be accessible in the current security context.

Resolution
