More information

A message may be displayed in the Application log that instructs you to perform an MTACHECK on the MTADATA directory. Alternatively, you may have to reset (or "wipe") the MTA database at the same time that you use Exchange 2000 Server on a cluster. In these cases, you have two MTADATA directories. One directory is for the binaries, and one directory is for the shared disk.

You must use the Mtacheck.exe utility to perform an MTACHECK or an MTA Wipe only on the shared disk database and not on the binaries database. The MTADATA directory on the binaries is used by the MTA for other purpose. The messages are held in the .dat files on the shared drive.

To run the Mtacheck.exe utility on Exchange Server 2003, first download the utility. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site: Then, copy the MtaCheck.exe file to the Exchsrvr\Bin directory.

Note The Mtacheck.exe utility must reside in the same directory as the Exchmem.dll file to run correctly.
