Resolution

To resolve this issue, delete the original App from the SharePoint Online site and from the recycle bins of the SharePoint Online site. To do this, follow these steps.

Important Please make sure that the App that you want to delete is the same App as the one that you are restoring.

Step 1: Remove the original App from the SharePoint site

  1. In the site contents of the SharePoint Online site, put your pointer on the Access App.
  2. In the pop-up dialog box, click the ellipses ().
  3. Click REMOVE.

Step 2: Remove the App from the first recycle bin

  1. Click the recycle bin icon in the upper-right corner of the site contents.
  2. Select the check box for the App that you just deleted.
  3. Click Delete Selection.

Step 3: Remove the App from the admin recycle bin

Note You must be a site content administrator to complete this step.
  1. In the site contents of the SharePoint Online site, click Home on the navigation pane.
  2. Click the settings icon in the upper-right corner.
  3. Click Site Settings.
  4. On the navigation pane, click Deleted from end-user Recycle Bin.
  5. Select the App that you deleted from the first recycle bin, and then click Delete Selection.

More Information

This behavior is by design for situations in which the Access App is saved as a snapshot and there is still a copy of the original App on the SharePoint Online site. Every time you save an Access App as a snapshot, the App package inherits the unique ID (GUID) of the Access App. You cannot add two Apps that have the same unique ID to the same SharePoint Online site. Therefore, the issue that is described in the "Symptoms" section occurs if the App has not been completely deleted from the recycle bins of the SharePoint Online site.
