XL2000: You Can See Other Users' Printers in a Terminal Server Session

Symptoms

When you use Microsoft Excel on a Microsoft Windows Terminal Server client, you can see the local printers of other users in your printer list. If you try to print to another user's printer, you receive an error message, and access to the printer is denied.

Cause

Excel reads printer information from a section of the Windows registry. This section lists all printers from all user sessions that currently exist on the Terminal server.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
