Lsass.exe on domain controller crashes when installing Active Directory in Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have domain controllers that are running Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012 in a domain.
  • You install Active Directory on a server that is running Windows Server 2012 R2 in the domain, and the server replicates from a domain controller (also named helper domain controller) in the domain.
In this scenario, the Lsass.exe process that is running on the helper domain controller crashes occasionally.

Resolution

To resolve this issue in Windows 2012 R2, install update rollup 2975719.  For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
