Start-MailboxSearch fails with ObjectNotFoundException in Exchange Server 2013

Symptoms

When a user runs the Start-MailboxSearch cmdlet, the user receives the ObjectNotFoundException error. In addition, the following error is logged in the Event Log:

Cause

This issue occurs if the user who runs Start-MailboxSearch is a member of hundreds of groups, typically caused by nested group memberships.

Tip The "whoami /Groups" command can be used to view the user's group memberships when you are logged in as that user.

Workaround

To work around this issue, reduce the numbers of the group that the user is in.
