The serial number is set to "no_serial" when a Sales Order is linked to a Work Order and the item is serialized with a user-enterable issue method

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Order Management in Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011:

  • In Inventory Items (10.250.00), you create an item with a value of Serial Numbered in Lot/Serial Tracked.
  • You open Lot/Serial Number Setup (10.250.01), you select When Received Into Inventory for Assignment, and you select User Enterable for Issue Method.

In this scenario, when you create a Sales Order that is linked to a Work Order, and this inventory item is part of the material issued to the work order, you notice that the soshiphlot.lotsernbr is set to no_serial when the lotsernbr should be blank.

Resolution
