View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You open a webpage in Windows Internet Explorer 9.
  • The webpage contains multiple TABLE elements that are nested.
  • The inner tables have the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) table-layout property set to fixed. Additionally, the inner tables have the CSS widthproperty set to a percentage. For example, the property is set towidth:100%.
In this case, the inner table is invisible or displayedasvery large.

Cause

This issue occurs because the calculation of the offset and width of the inner table and its cells is computed incorrectly. A negative offset causes an invisible inner table, and a large offset causes a large-width inner table.
