"Do you want to go to http://IntranetSiteName" notification does not work in Internet Explorer

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You redirect the Favorites folder of Internet Explorer 9, Internet Explorer 10 or Internet Explorer 11 to another location.
  • You try to access an intranet site by using Internet Explorer and the name of the site consists of just one word.
In this scenario, Internet Explorer responds by taking you to your default search engine to look for that word. Additionally, the Notification bar with the Do you want to go to http://IntranetSiteName? (Yes/no) question never appears.
