Symptoms

After you upgrade to Microsoft Excel 2002, formulas in your workbooks may display #VALUE! or #NAME!.

Cause

This behavior may occur when your workbook uses functions that are provided by add-ins, and you upgrade to Excel 2002.

By default, Excel 2002 turns off all add-ins (on the Tools menu, click Add-Ins). Excel cannot recognize functions that are provided by add-ins if the add-in is not selected in the Add-Ins dialog box.

Resolution

To turn on the add-ins, follow these steps:
  1. Start Excel.
  2. Open the workbook that contains the formulas that display the errors.
  3. On the Tools menu, click Add-Ins.
  4. In the Add-Ins dialog box, click to select the check boxes for the add-ins that the workbook uses.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Recalculate the workbook by pressing F9 or CTRL+ALT+F9.
