You can’t see Korean characters in a Korean version of Lync 2010 in Windows 8

Symptoms

You install a Korean version of Microsoft Lync 2010 on a computer that is running Windows 8 in a Lync Server 2010 environment. When you open Lync 2010, you can’t see Korean characters.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
2884632 Description of the cumulative update package for Lync 2010: October 2013

Cause

This issue occurs because Korean text belongs to a category that does not use a certain feature when the Windows Graphic Device interface performs text rendering.
