Unable to copy a sheet with a PivotTable to a new workbook in Excel 2002 and in Excel 2003

Symptoms

When you attempt to copy a worksheet that contains a PivotTable to another workbook, the copy operation fails, and no error message is displayed.

Cause

The sheet that you are trying to copy contains a PivotTable based on an OLAP cube. The OLAP cube contains member properties and the member property fields are displayed in the PivotTable.

Workaround

Copy your PivotTable and paste it into a new workbook using the commands on the Edit menu. To copy the contents of the sheet with the PivotTable to another workbook, follow these steps:
  1. Select the range of cells that contains the PivotTable and any other data that you want to move to another workbook.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
  3. Open the workbook into which you want to paste the contents of the worksheet.
  4. On a blank worksheet, click the cell that you want as the upper left corner of the range of data, and then click Paste on the Edit menu.
