XL: Error Messages When You Add Dimensions to PivotTable Report

Symptoms

When you try to add nine or more dimensions to a PivotTable report, you may receive an error message similar to one of the following:
Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications.
Cannot instantiate the MSOLAPUI80.dll prompt dialog component.
The operation requested failed due to security problems - unknown error server name.
Alternatively, Microsoft Excel may stop responding (hang), and Running OLAP query may be displayed in the status bar.

Cause

This issue occurs when Excel runs out of memory while you are creating a PivotTable report with data from an OLAP server.
