"Errors: Failed exporting item id: from source id" when you try to copy search results in an Exchange Server 2013 environment

Symptoms

Assume that you create an In-Place eDiscovery search in Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Exchange Admin Center (EAC). You select the Copy Search Results option for the search, and then you select the Include Unsearchable Items check box to copy the search results. In this situation, the search fails, and you receive the following error message:
Errors: Failed exporting item id: from source id: SMTP_Address with error: [FailedToGetUnsearchableItems] Export failed with error type: 'FailedToGetUnsearchableItems'. Details: There is an error in the XML document (Number).

Cause

This issue occurs because the Exchange server returns a null property to the client. However, the property should not be null on the client.
