Lync 2010 crashes when you listen to a new voice mail on a computer that is running Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that is running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010 together with Microsoft Lync 2010.
  • You receive a new voice mail notification in Outlook.
  • You click the link in the voice mail to listen to the voice message, or you let the mailbox idle for some time.
In this scenario, Lync 2010 may crash, and then you may receive the following error message:
Lync stopped working and restart again
Additionally, you may not see the voice mail notification in Lync 2010.

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
