To resolve this issue, modify the registry in Exchange Server to force Inbox rules to be checked against the mailbox size limits that are placed at the Information Store:
- Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
- Locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersPrivate
- Add the following value:
Value Name: Apply Mailbox Quota to Rules
Data Type: Reg_DWORD
If this value is not set to
0, messages that are sent according to rules still have the
mailbox quota option selected. If the value is not present or is set to
0 (this is the default setting in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3 [SP3]), messages that are sent according to rules are not affected by the mailbox quota for sending messages.
