Launching a virtual application fails with error code 0x4C40660C-80070005

Symptoms

When a user attempts to launch an application virtualized with Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) v5, the application fails with the following error:

The application failed to launch.
This may be due to a network failure.
Error code: 0x4C40660C-80070005

Cause

This can occur if the user has insufficient permissions for the .appv container file.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, ensure that the user has at least Read & List permissions on content folders as well as Read, Read Attributes and Read Extended Attributes on the .appv container file.
