Virtual applications deployed by .MSI on App-V v5 are not uninstalled correctly when using PowerShell

Summary

Consider the following scenario:

  • A virtual application is deployed via .MSI package on a Microsoft application Virtualization (App-V) v5 client.
  • The application is then uninstalled using the Remove-AppvClientPackage PowerShell cmdlet.
  • In the Programs and Features applet in the Control Panel, the application is still listed as installed.

More Information

If a virtual application is deployed via an MSI package, the application must be uninstalled using the "Programs and Features" applet in the Control Panel or by using msiexec.exe, not by using the Remove-AppvClientPackage PowerShell cmdlet.

NOTE A Virtual application installed via a .MSI package can be unpublished/published via PowerShell.
