You receive System Message 16658 when you try to submit a requisition for approval with a goods for inventory line with zero extended cost

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • You open Requisition (RQ.110.00).
  • You enter a requisition with a detail line that includes a value in Quantity Ordered, but a Unit Cost and Ext Cost of 0.00.

When you do this, you receive this error:

System Message 16657 Total Extended Cost for the Requisition is zero. Do you still want to Submit for Approval?

This implies that it is OK for the total extended cost to be zero. When you submit it for approval however, you receive this error:


System Message 16658 Extended Cost on an item submitted for approval on the original Requisition must have an Extended Cost > 0.
