When you open or use Microsoft Excel, Excel crashes, hangs, freezes or stops working when performing specific steps.�

Summary

This Support Diagnostics Platform (SDP) manifest file assists in troubleshooting reproducible hangs or crashes of the Excel application.�This tool is designed to help determine if an Excel or COM add-in is causing the undesirable behavior.
  • Microsoft Excel 2013
  • Microsoft Excel 2010
  • Microsoft Office Excel 2007
  • Microsoft Office Excel 2003

You may download and run the tool from location:�

The package will first disable all of your add-ins (Excel and COM add-ins), then�guide you through selectively re-enabling them to help determine which one may be causing your problem. Depending on the number of add-ins you have installed, this may take several minutes. The tool is interactive and you will be asked to�open and close Excel multiple times while reproducing the issue and answering various prompts.

When completed, a report with the findings will be saved to the desktop for your review:�C:\Users\<username>\Desktop\OfficeCrashDiagnosticData\Excel\ExcelCrashDiagnosticsReport1.html


** Important **
A System Restore point will be created when this diagnostic begins. If you cancel this diagnostic prior to it's finishing, your Excel configuration will most likely not be the same as it was before your began. If this happens, you can use the restore point to revert back to the pre-diagnostic configuration in Excel. To do this, use the Recovery Control Panel to restore a system checkpoint.
