You cannot access websites on a corporate network by using a VPN on a Windows Vista-based computer

Symptoms

Assume that you connect to a corporate network by using a virtual private network (VPN) on a computer that is running Windows Vista, and you enable Split Tunneling on the connection. In this situation, you cannot access websites on the corporate network.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Client service does not work correctly when it uses the Ndiswan adapter after you establish the VPN connection.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
