Documents with custom page sizes may not print correctly on PostScript printers

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a Word document with multiple custom page sizes.
  • You are using a a PostScript print driver.
  • You are using the RTM (Release to Manufacturing) version of Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, or you are using the Service Pack 1 or earlier version of Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
In this scenario, the custom page sizes are not printed correctly.

Cause

This is a known problem in the RTM version of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, and in the SP1 version of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.

Resolution

If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, upgrade to Service Pack 1.

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, upgrade to Service Pack 2.

More Information

When a document with custom page sizes is printed, the PostScript drivers in Windows 7 RTM (0.3.7600.x), and Windows Vista SP1 and earlier (0.3.6100.x), do not specify custom page sizes for each of the pages during the print job.

This issue has been resolved in the Postscript drivers from Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (0.3.7601.x) and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (0.3.6200.x).
