Office 2007 applications are unable to download 2012 calendar templates

Symptoms

In Office 2007, when clicking on the Office Button, then New, then Calendars and select 2012 Calendars, then choose a calendar, users are unable to complete the download of a calendar with a "Template cannot be downloaded" error:

Cause

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem with all Office 2007 applications accessing the 2012 Calendar set while using New/Calendars/2012 Calendars.

Resolution

Microsoft�is currently investigating a fix for this issue. Until then, please utilize the following workaround to access the templates in any Office application:
  1. Choose the desired 2012 Calendar template from:�http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CL101850727.aspx
  2. By hovering over the calendar, you can choose download.
  3. You may be promted to install an Active X control. Proceed with downloading the control. You also may be prompted to disable pop ups for the site.
  4. The download dialog box should open which appears while the template begins to download:
  5. A webpage then opens with an image of the template with some options avialable. Click Download.
  6. Choose Save As. Save the template to your desktop for quick access. You can open the calendar template by double-clicking the file and create a calendar in your Office application.
