Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2009 or Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 environment:
  • You use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 or Microsoft BizTalk Adapter for DB2 to connect to IBM DB2 for z/OS Version 7 or IBM DB2 for z/OS Version 8.
  • You apply the update that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article or any later update for the Host Integration Server 2009 data providers:
2538036 FIX: Incorrect data may be inserted into DB2 graphic data types when you use Host Integration Server 2009 data providers
  • You apply Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 Cumulative Update 1 (CU1) that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
2533330 Cumulative update package 1 for Host Integration Server 2010

In this scenario, you may receive the following error message when you click the Connect, Sample Query, or Packages button in the Data Access Tool (DAT) when you create or edit a Microsoft Data Link (.udl) file:
An internal network library error has occurred. A network level syntax error has occurred.

Cause

This problem occurs because the updates that you applied include changes to the Access RDB (ACCRDB) Distributed Data Management (DDM) command that enable the correlation token (CRRTKN) to be more than 12 characters long. IBM DB2 for z/OS Versions 8 and earlier versions do not support CRRTKN values that are longer than 12 characters.
