PowerPoint 2010 crashes when you view a presentation as a slide show that includes a slide transition

After you install the hotfix package, to have us enable the hotfix for you, go to the "Fix it for me" section. If you prefer to enable the hotfix yourself, go to the "Let me fix it myself" section.

Fix it for me

To enable the hotfix automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Then click Run in the File Download dialog box, and follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

Notes

• Install hotfix that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 2598271 before you run this Fix it solution.
• This wizard may be in English only. However, the automatic fix also works for other language versions of Windows.
• If you are not on the computer that has the problem, save the Fix it solution to a flash drive or a CD and then run it on the computer that has the problem.

Then, go to the "Did this fix the problem?" section.

Let me fix it myself

After you install the hotfix package, follow these steps to enable the hotfix:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regeditin the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\PowerPoint\Options
3. On the Editmenu, point to New, and then click DWORD(32-bit) Value.
4. Type AbortTransitionOnCOMCall, and then press Enter.
5. In the Details pane, right-click AbortTransitionOnCOMCall, and then click Change.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7. On the Editmenu, point to New, and then click DWORD(32-bit) Value.
8. Type BlockWhileInTransition, and then press Enter.
9. In the Details pane, right-click BlockWhileInTransition, and then click Change.
10. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
11. Exit Registry Editor.
