An update is available to enable the Albany AMT and Thorndale AMT fonts to be displayed correctly in Internet Explorer 9

Symptoms

An update is available that fixes the following issues.

Issue 1

Assume that you render text on an HTML page by using the following fonts:
  • Albany AMT (italic font style)
  • Thorndale AMT (italic font style)
However, when you view the HTML page in Windows Internet Explorer 9, the page is blank.�

Issue 2

Assume that you create a Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) graph control by using code that resembles the following on a computer that has Internet Explorer 9 installed:
String fontFamily = �Thorndale AMT�; 
_fontFamily = new FontFamily( fontFamily ); 

Typeface typeface = new Typeface( _fontFamily, FontStyles.Italic, FontWeights.Normal, FontStretches.Normal );
The WPF graph control tries to use the following fonts:
  • Albany AMT (italic font style)
  • Thorndale AMT (italic font style)
In this situation, an exception occurs when the WPF graph control tries to obtain a new font.

  • The files that apply to a specific product, SR_Level (RTM, SPn), and service branch (LDR, GDR) can be identified by examining the file version numbers as shown in the following table.

  • GDR service branches contain only those fixes that are widely released to address widespread, extremely important issues. LDR service branches contain hotfixes in addition to widely released fixes.
  • The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows Server 2008 R2 and for Windows 7" section. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintain the state of the updated components. The security catalog files, for which the attributes are not listed, are signed with a Microsoft digital signature.
